Estimated read time 4 min read

There are times that people don’t pay much attention when caring for their skin even if it’s the biggest body organ. But, you must know that you can suffer from dry skin because of winter weather, vigorous scrubbing, and hot showers.

You don’t need to head out to purchase pricey potions and lotions to rehydrate your skin. Your kitchen can already have all the ingredients you require. Natural remedies are better for your skin as they don’t contain extra chemicals, which manufactured skin creams have.

Take an Oatmeal Bath

Oatmeal has been used for treating skin for several years and even science says that this is effective for its cleansing, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory properties, and antioxidants, while providing reduced irritation.

To have an oatmeal bath, just blend a cup of oatmeal in your blender or food processor until you get a fine powder. After that, scatter the mixture into your tub with running warm water until it dissolves. Soak in your bathtub for 15-20 minutes, pat yourself dry once you’re done. Depending on how dry your skin is, take an oatmeal bath twice daily.

Coconut Oil

It’s another kind of wonder oil and one of the specialties of coconut oil is moisturizing. There are other ways you can use it. You can apply it to the problem areas such as your joints, hands, and cuticles or add several spoonfuls to your bath. This will leave your skin feeling soft and smells amazing.

Don’t Forget to Hydrate

One of the primary reasons why dry skin occurs is dehydration. Drinking a lot of water is a simple way to improve your overall skin and digestive health. Try to drink at least half your body weight in pounds or in ounces of filtered water daily. If you don’t want to forget drinking water, carry a water bottle with you always. You may also drink herbal teas and consume water-dense vegetables and fruits to help hydrate.

Olive Oil

It works as a moisturizer and a natural cleanser. The only thing you should do is to rub the olive oil on your dry skin and use a damp, warm cloth over your face. Then, wipe away excess oil and leave it until it dries. Olive oil is a great choice for a skin cleanser since it doesn’t strip away the natural oils of your skin.

Reduce or Avoid Excess Alcohol and Caffeine Consumption

Alcohol and caffeine dehydrate your body, which may dehydrate your skin. Drinking alcohol and caffeinated beverages can also interfere with drinking more water. Once you drink several cups of alcohol or coffee daily and you have dry skin, lessen your intake to improve your overall health and skin.

Consume Healthy Fats

Omega 3 fatty acids can moisturize and restore your skin. If you eat a fat-free diet, it won’t only deprive your body of an essential macronutrient that’s important for overall health and hormone health, but fats are also crucial when it comes to skin health.

Those are just some of the tips that help restore and replenish your dry skin naturally. However, before you try any natural remedies, make sure to let your doctor know about it, especially if you have an underlying medical condition.
